Strawn vs Gordon. Hands down the #1 rivalry in the six man nation.

Also:
Ropes vs Meadows
Aquilla vs Abbott

Those are the biggest 3 that I know of. I'm sure (insert your team here) thinks their game against (insert rivalry here) is bigger than any of those 3.

and iv also been to a few abbott and aquilla games and no matter where its at you can feel the tention from both sides of the field. it dont matter if its going to be a 45 game or a one point game one thing is for sure its a full out hard hitting battle from both sides till the end

You're right about Abbott - Aquilla games. I've also been to a Gordon - Strawn game and I'm not sure which to call the bigger rivalry.

Since my dad coached in Gordon....I'd have to agree since I've heard some stories.

Garden City vs. Rankin has been huge since 1988.....you should see those kids run that elementary track meet against each other. And since I'm an ol Red Devil...I'll point out that since 1988 Rankin is up 14-6 in the series....bad news is I have to coach against both this next season.

I'm pretty sure you could agree
Strawn/Gordon is one of the longest running rivalries.
Who else has tracked 50+ games?
That would be a good measure to start with.

Mah favorite team is anyone playing Richland Springs.
Reference 2011 week eight, Richland Springs 96, Brookesmith 8.
In my opinion, thats just wrong on so many levels.

Post Re: rivalry teams
In defense of Richland Springs...the opposing team did not have to play them...even in district. Brookesmith or Eden (another commonly referenced game used to rip on RS) could have called up and offered a forfeit in exchange to play their varsity against the Richland Springs JV. This kind of thing happened in 1995 in our district with Novice, they forfeited our district game and played a Blackwell JV squad...the JV squad still beat them something like 44-6...but it was better than what the varsity score would have been. (maybe this happened and RS refused, that is possible, I don't know, but I have not heard that this option was ever offered up)

I have witnessed games that ended similarly to those RS games and I could tell the coaches on the winnign team were trying to even it as best as possible, but still it looked ugly...it is unfair to blame the winning team and their coaches for lop-sided scores...or at least I think so

Garden City-Sterling City, 69 games since 1939. SC leads the series 43-24-2
Garden City-Forsan, 55 games since 1939. Forsan leads 39-15-1. Unless Forsan shrinks or GC grows, they'll never play again though.

16-7 since 1947 (when Rankin was 6 man for a while)

Did you just coach at Rankin? Or did you play there? If the latter, did you know the devil dentist when he was a fresh faced innocent kid?

Speaking of him, I wonder what he's been up to?
