I believe that the position will draw a high number of applicants. I believe that they are committed to a successful program and will hire an extremely qualified individual who has a number of years as a successful UIL high school sixman coach.

Could be wrong, if a person applied who had one or two tremendously talented sons might change the scenario a good bit.

The last coach will be the superintendent. He was successful (I do not know him) and certainly do not know what he would or will be like to work for.

The kids there have always played hard whether six or eleven man and expect them to continue to do so.

Rankin is in the middle of nowhere, but at least you can get to civilization. Expect the pay to be considerably above most sixman schools and possibly a house provided.

That is about all I know about the situation, call them and talk to the new supe, I am sure he will answer any questions you have.

According to the realignment listed on this site Rankin is division I. But, I guess you maybe talking about some Division II coach taking the job and thus reducing their school's chance.

As for salary, I am sure Rankin's is in the top 5 of salary among 6 man jobs.

That is what I meant...could have worded it better I guess...that a name I have heard in the mix is at a top DII school and would change the way people picked their DII State Game teams if he left and went to Rankin

In no particular order: Rankin, Garden City, Richland Springs, Grady, and Highland. I am going to throw Borden County in there also. They used to have an annunity along with their salary so they stand out pretty good.

Doubt RS is in the top 5...I would guess Garden City, Borden County, Rankin, Jayton, and Guthrie...in no particular order

Truth, you are probably right, should have thrown Jayton and Guthrie in there. RS, I think would surprise you, might not be in top 5 but I think the people of the community have a coach they have wanted to keep and are willing to see that happens. Again, just hearsay, but have heard some figures thrown around that are pretty impressive. Throckmorton might pay pretty well.
