6 man intro

Postby lmcguire » Thu Mar 07, 2019 9:59 am

6 man is not big in Kansas but there has been growth the last 5 years up to double digit teams. Our school has been in a coop for several years now. There is a feeling that support is behind getting football home and getting the lights turned on for Friday nights again. I know the basics of field size and rules but would anyone be willing to share their philosophy, organization, practice plans, playbooks? I think we will make a decision in the next month. I know there are nuances with 6 man that are different than 8 and 11. I believe there would be less than 10 out the first year and we would be young. Thoughts?

Come on folks, how about a little help for the man from Kansas. There are plenty of folks that frequent this board that could point him in the right direction.

Get in touch with Charles (Cowboy) Parks on FB or at sixmania.com. He has a lot of game film and he knows a lot of people all over the state. I know he would be willing to help.

Start the players running wind sprints until they puke, now. As the saying goes, speed kills in sixman.

I've read some prior coaching clinics are available on DVD. Where I'm not sure.

My name is coach Eason, and I am new to the six man football league. I am the Athletic Director and Had Coach at Founder's Classical Academy of Mesquite. We are currently building a home athletic field for transition to 6 man tackle football for the 2019 season. Our issue is that currently we lack the immediate funding to purchase new equipment for our 20 varsity athletes. WE ARE LOOKING FOR ANY SCHOOL THAT MAY HAVE USED EQUIPMENT TO DONATE TO OUR PROGRAM. This would ultimately help our team get started and help us move toward greater success with our football program.

Coach McGuire

If you use Twitter, check out the hashtag #6manfbchat. Most Monday nights they have a moderated chat on various 6-man coaching topics.

You can search that hashtag and see the Coaches that participate and reach out to them to get feedback.

Actually,
Consider going to Amazon.com
and order "Sixman Football" by C. H. Underwood.
I just gave mine away.
It's a wealth of knowledge in itself.
Good luck.
