Dal Lutheran's Sampson Named 2017 Week 14 Player of the Week

Postby granger » Wed Dec 06, 2017 7:21 am

As we get down to fewer and fewer games there is a high likelihood that we will see the same players week to week and possible multiple players from the same team in some cases. With that in mind here are the week 14 honors.

Week 14 Player of the Week:
Isaiah Sampson – Dallas Lutheran – 577 yards total offense; 11 rushing TDs, 3 passing TDs; 58 points scored
Sampson had an amazing night, rushing for 433 yards and 11 touchdowns on 23 carries. He was also 4-6-0 for 144 yards and three passing touchdowns, as Dallas Lutheran defeated Amarillo San Jacinto in the semifinal round of the TAPPS DI playoffs.

Honorable Mentions:
Javier Rivera – Tioga – 1/1 FG (32 yarder), 5/5 PAT kicks
Rivera’s leg proved the difference in the DI Region 4 title game, as he was a perfect 5-for-5 with PATs and his 32-yard Field Goal in a tied game with seconds left proved to be the game-winner, sending Tioga over preseason #1 Union Hill, 44-40.

Ethan Lilljedahl – Jonesboro – 11-149 yards, 4 TDs rushing; 4-6-0 for 63 yards 3 TDs passing; 11 tackles
Lilljedahl’s huge second half running and passing the ball helped rally the Eagle offense. Jonesboro came from down 26-6 at one point to win 57-50.

Wyatt Mote – May – 27-40 for 455 yards 6 TDs passing; 8-93 yards rushing; 12 tackles
Mote led May against Jonesboro for the Region 3 title, only to fall just seven points short. He had his best game to date passing and orchestrated key offensive drives through the game for the Tigers.

Dax Allen – Valley – 14-311 yards, 6 TDs rushing; 17 tackles
Allen averaged 22 yards a carry and led his team in tackles with 17, as Valley defeated Follett 94-48 to advance.

Taron Smith – Milford – 16-carries 270 yards, 6 TDs rushing; 15-22-1 for 241 yards 3 TDs passing; 6 tackles
Smith once again had a huge offensive night, amassing 511 yards of total offense, scoring six touchdowns and throwing for three more in Milford’s win over Iredell.

Corbin Schrotke – Milford – 23 tackles, 1 fumble recovery
23 Tackles! Seriously, another amazing defensive performance by Schrotke against an explosive offense.

Kyle Garcia – Balmorhea – 7-91 yards, 3 TDs rushing; 1-1-0 for 60 yards 1 TD passing; 9 tackles, 1 fumble recovery
Balmorhea only had 15 plays and 220 yards of offense, but still managed six touchdowns on the night. Garcia accounted for eight of those touches, rolling up 151 yards and having a hand in four touchdowns, scoring three of them himself. He also led his team in tackles, as the Bears beat Sands 46-0.
